My Lord,
m 1848 Kong Victoria Hong Kong May 31. 1848.
I With reference to that portion of Sir John Davis despatch No. 16 of the 29th January last, relative to the convoys afforded by British Vessels under Colonial Colours to Chinese junks against Pirates, I have now the honour to inclose for your Lordship's information Copy of a Despatch which I have lately received from Mr. Consul Jackson at Foochow foo, detailing the circumstances & investigation & acquittal of the local Authorities of a Junk & her crew, detained & brought into that Port on suspicion of Piracy by the master of the British Merchant Schooner the "Aurora".
